Development of AI System for Procedural Texture and 3D Model Generation
Procedural generation combined with neural networks is no longer an experimental territory. Studios use diffusion models and NeRF-like architectures to create textures and geometry that previously required weeks of work from art teams. We build complete pipelines from prompt to final asset ready for engine integration.
Architectural Stack
Model selection depends on content type and detail requirements:
- Textures — Stable Diffusion XL with ControlNet (depth/normal maps) plus specialized models like MatFormer for PBR materials. For tiling we apply circular padding trick and models trained with multi-scale consistency loss
- 3D Geometry — Shap-E (OpenAI), Point-E, TripoSR for rapid prototyping; heavier DreamFusion / Magic3D for high-quality output via Score Distillation Sampling
- UV Unwrapping and Normals — automated through xatlas + post-processing neural network for seam removal
- LOD Generation — Instant Meshes + custom reducer with silhouette preservation
Development Pipeline
Stage 1 (weeks 1–3): Audit and Dataset We analyze existing client asset library. Form dataset for fine-tuning: minimum 500–1000 reference pairs for stylistically consistent results. Configure DreamBooth or LoRA adapter to lock in style.
Stage 2 (weeks 4–7): Models and Inference Deploy inference server on NVIDIA A100/H100 or configure cloud endpoint (AWS SageMaker, RunPod). Latency for generating one 1024×1024 texture — 3–8 seconds depending on number of denoising steps.
Stage 3 (weeks 8–10): Engine Integration Plugins for Unreal Engine 5 (via Python API and Blueprints) and Unity (C# Editor extension). Support for glTF 2.0, FBX, USD formats. Automatic LOD 0–3 generation.
Stage 4 (weeks 11–12): Quality Control Automated metrics: FID for textures, Chamfer Distance for geometry, CLIP Score for prompt compliance. Threshold values configured to project requirements.

Practical Applications
Game development — generation of biome variations, random dungeons, loot with unique appearance. Architectural visualization — rapid creation of material variants (20+ facade variations per hour vs. week manually). Film and VFX — procedural environment textures for massive scenes.
Limitations and Honest Expectations
Generative models do not replace art directors — they accelerate iterations. Style consistency across different assets requires careful fine-tuning. Mesh topology from Text-to-3D models often needs retopology for production use. We embed human-review checkpoint before export to engine.
What the Client Receives
Fully configured inference pipeline with documentation, plugin for selected engine, prompt library tailored to project style, Jupyter notebooks for fine-tuning when expanding styles, 3-month support SLA after delivery.
