Softphone setup for Bitrix24: choosing Zoiper, MicroSIP, Linphone

When Bitrix24 browser telephony is no longer enough — calls drop and the browser consumes memory — a desktop softphone comes to the rescue. We configure Zoiper, MicroSIP, or Linphone for your SIP line so calls become stable and do not depend on tabs. We deliver turnkey projects: we select the option, connect it, and provide ongoing support.

Setting up a softphone for Bitrix24

When working with Bitrix24, we often encounter a situation where browser-based telephony is not enough. The built-in WebRTC call works through the browser and covers basic scenarios.

But if managers make more than 30 calls per day, problems begin: reloading the tab interrupts the call, Chrome consumes 2+ GB of RAM, and the headset does not switch automatically.

At the same time, employees lose up to 15% of calls, and the time to restore the connection stretches to minutes. We were looking for a solution that does not depend on the browser and works reliably at 50+ calls per day.

The answer is a desktop softphone: Zoiper, MicroSIP, or Linphone connected to a Bitrix24 SIP line. Savings on telephony costs can reach 40%; with 5,000 calls per month, the exact savings are calculated after an audit.

Our telephony integration experience includes more than 100 projects, and we guarantee correct operation.

How to choose a softphone for Bitrix24?

There are three main options: Zoiper, MicroSIP, and Linphone. Let's compare their capabilities:

Feature Zoiper MicroSIP Linphone
Platforms Windows, macOS, Linux Windows Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS
Codecs G.711, G.729, Opus G.711, Opus, G.722 G.711, G.729, Opus, Speex, Silk
Encryption TLS, SRTP (Pro) TLS (via settings) TLS, SRTP, ZRTP
Free version Yes (one SIP account) Yes (completely free) Yes (with limitations)
Additional BLF, auto-answer (Pro) Minimal memory consumption Video calls, IPv6 support

Zoiper is optimal for most scenarios thanks to its cross-platform nature and advanced features in the Pro version. MicroSIP is suitable for low-end PCs and RDP terminal sessions. We choose Linphone when voice encryption is required — for example, for legal or medical companies.

Why is a desktop softphone better than a browser one?

The main advantage is stability and resource efficiency. A browser WebRTC call depends on the state of the tab and consumes significantly more RAM. A desktop softphone reduces system load by 3–5 times and maintains the connection even when the browser is restarted.

In addition, a softphone supports advanced features: switching between audio devices on the fly, auto-answer, and BLF indication of colleagues' busy status.

Reduced communication costs are achieved by using SIP trunks instead of expensive telephone lines — average monthly savings are calculated after an audit.

Where do SIP credentials come from?

The source of the SIP account depends on how telephony is connected in Bitrix24. Built-in Bitrix24 telephony. The SIP connector in the "Telephony → Settings" section provides SIP parameters for external devices.

Data: SIP server, port, login (extension number), password. As stated in the documentation: "The SIP connector allows connecting any SIP device to the Bitrix24 cloud PBX" (helpdesk.bitrix24.ru).

Connecting through the SIP connector requires renting a number through B24 or connecting a third-party provider.

External PBX (Gravitel, Novofon, Mango, Asterisk). We take SIP credentials from the provider's personal account or from the PBX admin panel. Each employee is assigned an extension number with a login/password.

The softphone registers directly with the PBX, and Bitrix24 connects to the same PBX via REST API or an integration from the marketplace.

Step-by-step softphone setup

Detailed instructions
  1. Choose a softphone — Zoiper, MicroSIP, or Linphone, based on your tasks. Download the installer from the official website.
  2. Obtain SIP credentials — from the Bitrix24 SIP connector or from the PBX provider.
  3. Install and launch the softphone. Enter the parameters: SIP server, port (5060 UDP or 5061 TLS), login, and password.
  4. Configure codecs — priority G.711a, and Opus for a low-bandwidth channel. Enable DTMF RFC 2833.
  5. Check registration — status "Registered" or "Online". If there is an error, configure NAT traversal (STUN/TURN) or outbound proxy.
  6. Test a call — call an extension number. Make sure the call appears in the CRM.
  7. Configure the headset — select input/output devices, enable auto-answer if necessary.

Connection parameters

Parameter Value
SIP server Address of the PBX or Bitrix24 SIP connector
Port 5060 (UDP) or 5061 (TLS)
Transport UDP for the local network, TLS for remote employees
Login Employee's extension number
Codec G.711a (priority), Opus (for limited bandwidth)
DTMF RFC 2833

After entering the data, the softphone should show the status Registered or Online.

If registration fails, we check: whether port 5060/5061 is open on the firewall, whether NAT is blocking SIP packets (solved by enabling STUN or outbound proxy), and whether the login and password match.

Integration with Bitrix24

The softphone handles voice, but Bitrix24 must know about the call to record it in the CRM. Two options:

Through PBX integration. If the PBX is connected to B24 through a marketplace app (Gravitel, Novofon, etc.), calls automatically go to the CRM. The softphone works as a voice terminal, and the PBX transmits CDR records to Bitrix24. The call card, conversation recording, and linking to a lead all work.

Through the Bitrix24 SIP connector. The softphone connects directly to the Bitrix24 SIP server. Calls are recorded automatically, but the functionality depends on the plan: conversation recording, queue distribution.

What is included in the work

As part of the setup, we perform:

  • Consultation on choosing a softphone for the company's infrastructure
  • Installation and configuration of Zoiper, MicroSIP, or Linphone on all workstations
  • Registration of SIP accounts on the PBX or Bitrix24 SIP connector
  • Configuration of codecs, NAT traversal (STUN/TURN), encryption (TLS/SRTP if necessary)
  • Verification of call recording in the CRM: incoming, outgoing, missed
  • Testing with headsets: switching audio devices, auto-answer for incoming calls
  • Provision of documentation and access credentials
